I recently got a catahoula pup and when I first got him he looked super bloaded but the lady told me he had just ate. I thought nothing of it then and over the past month he has swollen up like that about 10 more times but he has had diarrhea the entire time I have owned him and a couple times I noticed blood in it. He also has trouble breathing sometimes and gets what seems like the hickups atleast twice a day. He has a ton of energy and eats like a hog. I am questioning the the thought of cardiac parvo? If any one has any experience or input I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I used Cat's Claw for Whole Foods Market when I encounter a dog with parvo. I give them a full dropper of it the mouth then a full dropper in the anus (the anus one is diluted with a cup of warm water). Every three to four hours, I put five drops in some chicken broth and syringe fed. Every six hours syringe fed pediasure. Two to four days later, EVERY dog eat like a horse and ready to play. I have treated more than seven dogs like this and three had bloody stool. I hope this helps.

My husband bought me a puppy for Xmas this year.He is a Shih tzu and only 8 weeks old. We brought him home on the 26th of Dec. and by the 30th he was starting to slow down and throwing up. We took him to the vet and since the breeder said she gave him his parvo vacine they didnt check for parvo, even though he was throwing up, had no energy, and all the other signs of parvo. They charged us $400 for meds and er visit and sent us home, told us we "played with him to hard" which we thought odd but they are the vet. So we followed the vets instructions to the letter and he just got worse. So the next day we took him in and they said "maybe we will give him a parvo test". He was positive and the vet said he probably got it from the breeders. so far we have spent $600, the vet gave us a low price of $800 and a high price of $1500, money we really dont have but I guess we will have to put some bills off but we think he is worth it! Our Otis is in the hospital right now, it is the second day. The first day he was doing ok he was able to keep every thing down. This morning the second day he took a turn and started throwing up again. This little guy means the world to us so I have my fingers crossed!! Anybody have any tips for when he gets home on helping his recovery? Thanks for reading! Keep positive thoughts and positive things will happen! I hope that works!!

I have 7 three week old pitbull puppies all with parvo they contracted from theother which we adopted while pregnant. One puppy seems the worst and will not eat, I have been force feeding him plain pedialite and goats milk. The milk comes back up but not the pedialite. I have noticed that if I give them pedialite and 30 min later givethe 1/2 oz of milk it stays down. 72 hrs after the puppies have shown symptoms they seem to be moving more. Their gums are still pink and no bloody stools, I am cleaning their bed and surrounding areas every 2-3 hrs with bleach and changing all blankets to keep away feces. I am hoping that the puppies quill pull through, they are too young for vaccination and have great awaiting families! Keeping them hydrated and fed seems to be my greatest advocate but still I say a prayer. I hop this helps and god bless.

We just got a pit bull puppy, we named her Angel. She is normally active and eats a lot. For almost a day now she has been throwing up. She started off throwing up worms, so we treated her for worms. Well, now she wont eat and she barely drinks. We have nutri-cal, pedilyte and peptobismol. But she has been pooping out dead worms, so I am not sure if it is just the worms doing it or if it may be parvo..can someone give me some advice? I don't have the money to take her to the vet. My husband is working to hard to try to take care of me and our unborn son, so we don't know what to do..If anyone has any advice then just email me at christinanmikejohnson@yahoo.com I would greatly appreciate it.

If you have to turn your dog into the vet because of parvo then your a shity excuse of a dog owner. When you have to admitt your pet it's because you dint catch it in time! Parvo signs are very obvious(vomiting, diareha, not eating)so obviously your not taking your puupy or dog to the vet as soon as you see these signs because if you did you could keep your puppy home and save the money!Parvo is basically a 50/50 chance. And if you catch it soon enough you can save the money and probably your dogs life! If your dog vomits or has diareha more than 3 times take them to the vet ASAP. If it has parvo then you caught it early enough because you didnt wait a day to go to the vet! They will give it a shot and some pills to prevent the vomiting and diareha to help prevent dehydration. Once this is done you need to take your puppy home. Bleach the whole house and yard to prevent reinfection. Then for the next 24 hours your going to feed the puppy pedialite every half hour. You cant miss this is key to keep the puppy hydrated. dont dilute the pedialite with water you want the electrolytes. another key is to keep the puppys temp. down. either cold baths-not freezing water...cool water or cold wash cloths on the body. and last lots of love and attention. you need to give them a reason to fight through. So if you follow these steps your puupy should be on the positive side on the 50/50 scale. If you wait your going to spend a shit load of money and admitting them to the vet(which you deserve:should have taken them in immidiatly) and your puppy has a low chance of eveing surviving, even after all the expensive vet treatments.....so good luck to all hope you follow my advice and I hope your baby will make it!

My friend today had to put her 5 month old puppy down, because it had parvo, and she couldn't afford the bills, I have to keep an eye on my 3 month old puppy, because they spent alot of time together. But if mine does have it, I'm not giving up on her that easily.

Good news!!! After a very terrifying experience with puppy parvo my doggie pulled through :-) Brea is a 8-week old Cane Corzo. She came to us at 6-weeks and despite getting her shots immediately after getting her, she still came down with a bad case of parvo. After 4 days at the vet and a pretty hefty bill (yes this is what prevents most dogs from being saved) :-( Brea is thriving, eating every bite, and full of energy... This is our second dog to be diagnosed with parvo (the 1st one is four now) & despite our every effort to bleach and try to disinfect the yard it seems we just can't kill this virus. However both dogs are strong and healthy now. Good luck and prayers to all the sick doggies out there.
