in reference to chris from feb. 23rd...obviously YOU know nothing about the ways of puppies and dogs getting parvo!! you sicken me by your message! dogs dont get parvo by eating their own poop or other dogs poop, it is an airborne disease that YOU can bring home to them!! i have lost 2 rotties from this and I dang sure didnt allow them to eat their poop or other poop! you can bring it home to them from walking on ground that has been infected with it and YOU not even know that it is in the soil! other people can bring the disease on their shoes or the bottom of their pants from where they have been around dogs that are infected by it! so never tell these people that they should be ashamed for letting their dogs eat poop, YOU SICKEN ME BY THAT REMARK!! YOU NEED TO READ UP ON IT AND DEFINITELY TALK TO YOUR VET BEFORE YOU MAKE REMARKS LIKE THIS AGAIN!!!

I lost my puppy yesterday to Parvo. He started throwing up on Wednesday afternoon so my fiance brought him to the vet Thursday afternoon. The vet said he was severly sick and most likely wouldn't survive. She recommended putting him to sleep. He was in alot of pain and suffering. I have three other dogs at home and now I am taking them all to have an additonal booster to protect them. I feel terrible. I wish there was something I could do. He only showed symptoms for 1 day and it was already too late. =(

I have 2 dogs, one 10 month old pitbull & a 4 month old hound dog and I can actually say it's been very hard for the past week!!! My bitbull Zeus is in the hospital getting better from parvo,it has cost a lot of cash but it's soo worth it,we love him to death & would do it all over again, the thing is that our hiund dog has been very quiet lately since Zeus went to the hospital & Hunter is very sad looking but NO symptons so far,the key in all this is to clean your yard real good altough I don't care what anyone says you can never really clean it good enough for this virus but you must moop with bleach/diluted water @ least 4 times a day,and wash everything you have even your clothes..Throw away all the old toys for both dogs & DO NOT bathe your dogs when they are having diarrhea,it is so bad for you to do that as a matter of fact you cannot even wipe them off because they are fighting a fever & you do not know what they are going through!!! Please take your puppies & older dogs to the vet asap,I heard that even though you can save a dog at any age you have less chances of saving a puppy or 1yr or younger or an older dog from Parvo...If the dogs are between 3 yrs and older than it's not even a big deal!!!

I had a miniature pinscher puppy that was one year old, I did not give him any shots because I had no idea about dogs and that it was a requirement to have shots. Then he had ALL of the symptoms everyone talks about. I also sprayed some roach spray around and thought that he had got into that. So I thought since he was sick he would get over it, cause my other dog had also and got over it. But I came home from work one day and he was limp. The inside of his mouth was gooey with something. So I thought he was dehydrated so I forced water down his mouth (Which i was told to do in early signs of dehydration) we took him to the vet and it was a 1000 dollar bill that we could not afford. SO basically they sent us home with some fluids, antibiotics, and anti nausea medication home. 5 minutes after we got home he kicked his legs trying to gasp for breath, he looked like he was scared because he didn't know what was going on. and he passed. That was the saddest moment of my life cause it was the first dog i had with parvo and i get really close to my animals. If I had known this sooner i would have done something, and I feel that it is all my fault because i could have done something but i didn't. And I felt it was my fault because I didn't get him shots. So now i know how important it is to get shots to prevent parvo. I will miss stilts forever....

I might have been lucky with my old german shepherd puppy. She survived but these are some things i remember, symptoms and whatnot. Our puppy was sick for about 4 days before i finally caught on, thanks to the internet. Loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargic, she had them all. She would eat nothing but CONSTANTLY go for the water bowl so we did keep it filled. After the normal diarrhea, it started to become just a watery bloody brown ooze and somewhat JELLO-y substances coming out too. The internet tells you its a 'distinct' smell. WTF is a 'distinct' smell for christs sake?! What i personally smelled was a mix of a extremely strong stink diarrhea, along with mix of blood you can practically smell the IRON in it. The smell was so strong i could smell it 2 rooms down...

Today I lost my dog of 4mths it hurts so much because he was so healthy and full of life just Sunday gone. He succumb to the deadly virus Parvo but by the time we got tru to the vet to have him checked out it was too late :( The Parvo virus had him to the point where he was so helpless. Please people from the time u nnotice ur dog has a lost for appetite and begins vomitting foam like stuff most of the time its as a result of the Parvo virus he also had a bloody diarrhea. When the vet told us that his chances were very slim I had already made up my mind to put him to sleep the following day because he was in a lot of pain. I have another dog with whom my late dog grew up with she is in a mess because she knows what happen she is very quiet however I manage to get the vet to vaccinate her from the deadly Parvo because it is very contagious. Now I have to focus on her by showing her a lot off love and attention cause she is defintely going to grieve. The nite my dog died was the first nite they both seperated. If the same thing happens to

This website has helped me...my dog Trixie was going to be a year old next month..she had her shots but somehow she still got parvo..I took her last night and they said she did not have a fighting chance. I had to put my dog to sleep last night. The vet said that there was a new strand of parvo that was going around and it was extremely deadly. And that new strand of parvo is what my poor Trixie had.
